Jesus Loves the Little Children...

I was listening to a children's CD on the way to work in the morning.  I happen to know most of the songs, thanks to my Adventist education from San Gabriel Academy.  But Jesus Loves the Little Children comes on with a verse I haven't heard before...

Jesus died for all the children,
all the children of the world;
Red, brown, yellow, black, and white,
they are precious in his sight.
Jesus died for all the children of the world.

I don't know why, perhaps I'm a sentimental mother now, but that verse made me tear up.  The thought that Jesus died for my little Kelly too...heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time.

Needless to say, the song helped me start my day right.

Gosh I miss my baby.

9 months ramblings..

Kelly's 9 months stats:

Height:  28.5 inches (70%)
Weight: 19 lbs (55%)
Head: --- (80%)

Our girl is losing weight!  I guess the crawling and pulling herself up to a standing position is burning calories!  She must teach her mom how she's losing the lbs!
Ricky was so sure she'd be back in the 90's...I knew she would be 75% or less...as always, mom knows best.

I know I say this everyday, but I am so amazed at how babies grow.  We really are fearfully and wonderfully made.  Kelly changes daily.  Her favorite thing to do these days:  kiss and pull herself up to standing.  She kisses on command and it is just about the cutest and wettest kiss you'll ever get.  She opens her mouth wider when you ask her to 'ppo ppo'.  Once or twice, I went in to get her in the morning and found her standing up, holding onto her crib railing.  When does she learn these things???

We I'm planning Kelly's dohl now.  Who knew it would be like wedding planning?  Caterer, thuk, decorations, favors, entertainment, slideshow...Actually, I think I was warned by Sharon, but I did not heed her warning.  Oh well...Kelly will not remember it but will have pictures to remind her how much we love(d) her.  Perhaps it will touch her cold, teenage heart years from now.

On a completely different note, we bought Kelly a new Pooh bear.  Unfortunately, she won't give him the time of day.  She sleeps with her old, stinky Pooh and new Pooh.  But new Pooh is always alone in the corner when I peek in, while stinky Pooh is in her loving arms.

I'll end with a picture of some of the cute kiddos at Yorba Linda SDA Church during children's story.  I think us adults enjoy children's story more than the kids cause they are so funny and cute with their responses and reactions to the Bible/moral stories.

My first try

OK, so I give in and I'm going to attempt to keep a blog. We'll see how it goes!

Kelly is already 38 weeks, almost 9 months! Time really does fly.

Kelly updates:

1. She crawls and is super fast now. She gets into everything. Look away for a second, and she's found a gift I wrapped and is in the process of unwrapping it. I hide it under her crib, and then my smart girl is under her crib trying to retrieve it.

2. She loves her mommy most (of course!), daddy second. However, daddy is best at making our little tike laugh her precious laugh.

3. I love eating out with Kelly! I never knew so many restaurants were accomodating to babies. Cheesecake Factory gave her sliced bananas and cut up toast without me even asking, Japanese and Korean restaurants will give her cubes of tofu. She just sits in her high chair, stuffs her face with bananas, tofu, or graduate puffs and only cries when she's out of food.

4. Ricky & I settled into parenthood (finally) and now, we're loving it. Even when Kelly didn't sleep that one night from 1AM to 4AM and just wanted to play in our bed, we just laughed at her antics and couldn't get mad (surprisingly). If she decides to do this regularly...that's a different story.

5. A few friends have had babies recently...I kinda sorta miss having a newborn. Am I crazy? Someone talk some sense into me.

6. Kelly loves loves loves her Pooh bear. If she's got Pooh, all is good. We lug Pooh EVERYWHERE with us, just in case she gets fussy and needs him. But Ricky and I agreed, Pooh is better than a ginourmous pillow or blanket, or something ugly. Only downside, I have to wash Pooh twice a week and must time it in between naps.

7. Kelly is really good in her Jeep walker. She manuevers around the island in the kitchen, reverses and does U-turns when she hits the wall or a corner, and she likes honking. She's a better driver than many Asian women I see in Diamond Bar. Yes, I'm an Asian woman too. But in my defense, I've been told I'm a good driver...for an Asian woman.

8. I've been wanting to take Kelly to the Huntington Library for a while now. I grew up right by it and went there a lot as a kid and have good memories of the place. Ricky finally obliged and we're going during our spring break! Finally!! Any other mommies and daddies wanna go with us?

9. Watching the Olympics has motivated me to give Kelly ice skating lessons when she's older. I took ice skating lessons for a few months when I was 7, but I remember cutting my chin bad and I stopped after that.

10. Kelly now likes to stand and take practice steps with help. She puts her cute little butt up in the air and tries to push up with her hands to stand but always needs assistance. Regardless, it's a cute, good attempt.

Our little rascal...
