Happy 1st Birthday dear girl!

My precious girl is 1 today!  My sweet girl shamelessly took over lives, our home, and our daily schedule 1 year ago, giving us unbelievable amounts of joy.

Can't believe 1 year ago, I had a 9:00AM appt with my dr. for the 2nd time that week. I was sitting in the waiting room, tired of the dr appts every 3 days, tired of bed rest, tired of not sleeping on my back, and was cranky as can be. Poor Ricky was trying to comfort me but was just making me crankier. We got home at 10:30AM, after another NST (listening to baby heartbeat for 30min), another U/S, and word that I was dilated 2cm.

At 11 AM, I was eating denjang-jeegeh and rice when contractions started! I started timing them at 12PM, called my dr. at 2PM, took a shower and got ready and checked in at the hospital at 3PM.  In retrospect, I waited too long to call my dr., cause when I got to the hospital I was already 7cm.

At 3:30 PM, I was already 7cm dilated! The contrations were really really painful at this point. I never realized the pain was going to come from the front, side, and back simultaneously. I started panicking and asked for the epidural that I was not planning to take (in retrospect, who was I trying to impress? Epidurals are a piece of heaven!).

At 4:00 PM, I got the epidural. Whew!  As Ricky said, I was 'just peachy' once I got the anesthesia.  My dr. came at 4:30, and we were talking when my water broke all over her! I was embarrassed but she graciously just had us laughing about it.

At 5:30 PM, I was put on the oxygen mask cause Kelly wasn't getting enough oxygen and switching positions wasn't helping.

At 6:30 PM, my dr. said it was time to push!  She used a vacuum to help little Kelly out cause she still wasn't getting enough oxygen and she was a little worried.  I can't describe the pushing...except that I was motivated to push and push so I could be done.  My dr. asked if I wanted a break but that a break could mean Kelly slipping back in, but I said 'nope'...let's keep going.  And after 20min, came Kelly at 6:54PM...Her first apgar score was a 6 due to lack of oxygen, but apgar score #2 was a 9.

That was a mere 365 days ago.  I am getting ahead of myself, but I'm so sad she's growing up so fast, and yet, so excited for what's to come.

Happy happy 1st birthday to my little girl...who knew you could love someone/something this much?  Husband/wife...so easily 2nd place.  =)

362 Days old...

This past Sunday was Kelly's big dol!  When Kelly was first born, we decided not to throw her a big dol...but obviously, we changed our minds!  Even though Kelly won't remember her big party, we will.  And it was a chance for us to look back on her first year and celebrate her healthy, happy first year of life.

Diamond Bar Community Center

Leila, my dear auntie and Kelly's Great-auntie, took beautiful professional photos for us.  The fabulous, hard-working photog Leila has already sent the CD of photos on its way!
Photos to follow!

For now, here are the 1 year 'dol' pictures, taken by MOM & BABY STUDIO in L.A.  David took the pictures and he was SO good with her.  Maybe a little too good cause she's just laughing her head off in every picture so a lot of the pictures look similar. =)

And in honor of Kelly's papa, we took a family photo all sporting Lakers' gear, which I cannot upload cause of copyright issues.

Again, thank you to ALL who made her dol party possible and for all the help and love and support.

Dol photos to come in the next post!  Along with actual birthday celebrations...I'm going to bake my girl her first birthday cake..wish me luck!

11 months and 14 days...

It's hard to believe my little booger is already going to be one...

Ricky and I find ourselves using the phrase "Last year around this time..." very often these days.
We even discussed child #2...and decided we want to wait.

Playing at church.  I think church has better toys than home!

At Jihae Imo's wedding.  She wanted to show off her cucumber slices to the servers but they all were too busy to pay any attention

Some updates on our funny little girl who is developing quite a personality:

- plays peek-a-boo with just about anything she can get her hands on. She even pauses for a few seconds for a dramatic effect.

- will shake hands with you on command "ahk-soo"

- will give "joo seh yohe" on command

- still kisses on command (since 9 months)

- still doesn't know how to wave 'hi' or bye'

- likes to show us what she's got.  And when we make a big fuss, she smiles a proud little smile.

- if we're eating something she has to have a taste (reminds me of Mylo for some weird reason).  We're getting more and more comfortable in this area.  I even gave her jap-chae off my plate at church Saturday.  And she's tasted cake (grr..her dad), ice cream (grr...her dad again), geem, fried egg, and a few other items.

- is even more attached to me than ever! I can't leave the room without her fussing

- cruises really well, even stumbling from one piece of furniture to the next

I was looking through old pictures while putting together the slideshow for her party, and I can't believe how much she's grown. The tiny thing I could hold in one hand is now a functioning little person. When I see her lying on her Boppy (yes, I'm still b.feeding), and see how her feet stick out, I can't believe my eyes.

I'm still b.feeding 3x a day...that's 3 more times than I was planning 1 year ago.  I'm going to cut down to just the nighttime feeding on her birthday and cut that out at 14months when I return to work. Thnk that'll work?  I'm not too worried. She's already showing signs of disinterest in b.feeding and doesn't seem too attached, but I'm attached to it now.  I thought b.feeding was such a drag in the beginning when it took 45 minutes and happened every 3 hours...But I'm really cherishing it these days. I notice her long eyelashes when she's eating with her eyes closed, I trace her baby-soft cheeks, I caress her long locks of hair...and it gets me emotional.

I guess that's why parents have child #2!

Excuse the pictures in this post!  I have 436 pictures in my camera that need to be uploaded to my computer.  Mobile uploads is so comfy and less time-consuming...

Spring Break: Vegas

So spring break came and went.  I have never felt this discouraged after spring break before.  What a tease!  In the past, we would go on spring break, then go back to work knowing we have only 1 more quarter left, and feel great that June is approaching.  But every morning, my first thought is "I don't want to go to work.".  Knowing Kelly is home is so so distracting.  Anyhow, here's our break in a nutshell!  Vegas, lounging around at home, Huntington Library, Uncle Tim's wedding.  Seeing family at Sarah's wedding in Vegas and Tim's wedding was just awesome, lounging around was a necessity, and Huntington Library with our outstanding Oh friends was perfect.

Kelly helping us pack.  Doesn't she look so excited for the trip??

Kelly was so good on both flights!  Going, I gave her a bottle of formula to suck on, and I don't think she even needed it.  Coming, she slept the whole way.  So she slept well, while poor mom thought my arm was going to fall off.  There's her new friend for the hour.  Poor guy was so nice.  Everytime he'd look away from her, Kelly would tug on his shirt to get his attention again.  He obliged everytime.

So relieved to finally be in our hotel room.

Kelly and her 'welcome' package from Wynn.  Who said they don't like babies?  They supplied a crib AND all necessities (Desitin, shampoo, lotion, ducky).

Happy Easter from our bunny!  Check out her little rascal smile.  I love it.

Daddy's little girl with her daddy at Sarah emo's wedding at MGM.  Our main purpose for the trip.  It really touches my heart when I see Ricky with Kelly.  I can see his love growing for her with every smile she gives him, and it is the sweetest, sweetest thing.

Meeting her Leila emo for the first time.  Who was gorgeous that day by the way.

Giving umma a sloppy kiss.  She now comes over and gives us a kiss while playing just because.  Think she knows it's a sign of affection?

The ravishing bride!  And Uncle Garry. =)

Bellagio Conservatory, all ready for spring.
Her first taste of gelato.

Patiently waiting for Wynn's water show.

This is how our very un-ladylike little girl knocks out.  Her daddy thinks it's hilarious that she puts one leg up.  Almost every time.

"But I don't wanna go home yet!  Waaah!"

And then she got over it.  Real fast.

Last day in Vegas.

I am all blogged out.  Spring break to continue...

Kelly has a fever, since 5AM today.  We think it's cause of teething, cause she is drooling a lot, refused solids all day but breastfed well, has a come & go fever at about 99.5, and wanted me to hold her ALL day.  How do we know for sure it's teething?  My little bro told me to wait and see if fever continues tomorrow, but I'm impatient.  I must know what's wrong with my happy girl today...
